Bugs were on the menu for students of South Devon College and members of the Chefs’ Forum thanks to a cookery treat by Masterchef Peter Gorton!
The chef and proprietor of Gorton’s Diners Club/Restaurant in Tavistock got mouths watering with his performance demo of Thai-style meal warm risotto garnished with samphire!
He was joined at the South Sands Hotel by expert Devon forager David Harrison and Michelin-starred Chef Simon Hulstone for a Costal Forage.
Edible plants and weeds were also served to students and members as they were shown how to identify and cook the fabulous wild and free ingredients in abundance in the area.
The Chef’s Forum is a networking group, which connects chefs with education and supplies to help inspire, mentor and motivate the next generation of young talent.
It continues to go from strength to strength and now holds conventions for top chefs, trade suppliers and catering colleges from the Cotswolds to Cornwall and across to Kent. Last month the Chefs’ Forum Bath & Cotswolds was launched with a roaring success.
