Is your restaurant mobile ready?
Mashable recently reported that mobile transactions are predicted to reach $1.3 trillion by 2017 – with the restaurant industry ripe to take a large proportion of this nugget.
There are several ways that your business can take advantage of this mobile revolution. Here are just a few dining apps that will get you ready for the new world order:
There is a new generation of diners, those who expect to be able to book a table, order a takeaway and view your menu online and on their smart phones. There are a number of systems already available that allow you to upload your menu and let customers order their takeaways online. Websites such as Hungry House and Just Eat have simplified the takeout process.
With discounts for ‘Likes’ on Facebook or ‘Follows’ on Twitter, restaurants can reward people who connect with them online. There are a number of companies that are taking this to a new level. Zappd for example allows restaurant owners to reward people who “Zapp” into their establishments. The check in, via Zappd, can then be automatically shared to Foursquare and Facebook, helping to further promote your business.
Square put mobile payments in the limelight when it partnered with Starbucks to process all of the company’s card transactions from customers in America.
The Square app lets the customer open a food tab or have the tab auto-open when they arrive. The app is currently only available in the United States, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it will cross the pond soon.
