Nordic Noir

Nordic Noir

It’s hard to image TV these days without dramas like ‘The Bridge’ and ‘Borgen’ – we just can’t seem to get enough of them. Yet go back four years and most of us had never heard of Nordic Noir.

Now, tapping into this love affair there’s a new beer – Kolson Export.
Based on an old Nordic recipe, but refreshed for contemporary drinking tastes, this premium 5% lager offers a clean, crisp taste for publicans and the public alike.

An exclusive deal with Today’s sees the beer available in bottles and kegs through the on-trade, as well as in cans for the off-trade. And it’s just the start as Kolson, aided by internationally recognised
Master Brewer Anders Kissmayer, is currently working on additions to the range, including flavoured lagers and Nordic Noir – a 6.5% abv dark beer.

Consumer marketing will be supported by sponsorship of Nordic Noir films working closely with Arrow Films and events like Nordicana – bringing two great exports from the same region together.

Stewart Rowley, Kolson’s managing director, is clear about the association: “As a Nordic lager, we were looking for a sponsorship initiative that really aligned with our product and gave us a marketing hook that we felt would have impact with consumers in the demographic we were targeting.”

Rowley continued, “We’re all massive fans of the Nordic Noir film genre and really identified this as one of the Nordic regions’ great exports. The trademark dark thrillers with their heavy mix of crime, politics, judgement and retribution are regularly drawing massive UK viewing figures. They seem to have tapped into an eager vein with British viewers. Our aim is to forge a long-lasting relationship with filmmakers, actors, production companies and the region they represent, thereby boosting interest in both the films and our beers. We’re excited to be launching Kolson Export to both the on- and off-trade, and to be bringing Nordic tastes to an ever wider audience.”

If you’re a fan of Nordic Noir, this is the beer for you!
