Originally created by Harry McElhone at his Harry’s New York Bar, Paris, for his loyal customer Erskine Gwynne; editor of Boulevardier magazine, this recipe replicates a Negroni but substitutes the gin for bourbon – perfect as an apéritif!

Glass: Coupette

Ingredients

  • 25ml Buffalo Trace Bourbon
  • 25ml Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth
  • 25ml Campari
  • Dash Peychaud’s Bitters
  • Orange zest
  • 1 maraschino cherry

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass filled with ice
  2. Stir the ice with a bar spoon in a circular motion until the liquid roughly doubles in volume
  3. Strain into a coupette and garnish with orange zest and a maraschino cherry
