Allergy Aware

Allergy UK has launched an accreditation scheme for foodservice operators that aims to ‘put peace of mind on the menu’ for the estimated two million people in the UK who suffer from food allergies. Under the Allergy Aware scheme, businesses are required to sign a charter to ensure best practice and compliance and then receive training from providers Allergy Aware Kitchen before they can be accredited. Catering businesses join for an initial 12 month period, then renew annually. As part of the scheme, all successfully accredited businesses receive a listing on Can I Eat There? – an online restaurant and menu directory for the allergic and coeliac community.
